Cyber subculture
Cyber culture is a subculture which stems from various underground music and social scenes such as rave and goth. Cyber fashions are influenced by cyberpunk, rave and goth, with those leaning towards the goth end being referred to as "cybergoths" and those leaning towards the trance/hard dance music being referred to as "cyberkids". The subculture as a whole is characterized by an interest in fashion, clubbing, and electronic music. It is also characterized by an interest in emergent techonologies, as well as their effects on society.
Some common themes in cyber fashion include the use of high contrast colours, such as black and white, neon and UV-reactive materials, vibrantly coloured and stylized hair (often with extensions, braids and other paraphenalia), large shoes or boots, body mod, and superfluous accessories such as goggles. There is also usually a strong androgynous element, with cyberpunk and anime influences as well.
Cyber culture is primarily centred around the internet and nightlife, being closely associated with specific clubs in the UK and US.

Data.Body - Assignment 1
Bio
- I am from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
- I am 22 years old.
- Outside of school I play musical instruments, do digital 2D and 3D art, draw, spend lots of time with my girlfriend, play videogames, make videogames, read, watch TV, movies, anime, and porn.
A statement of aspirations
-I have chosen this program/school because I live in Lethbridge, close to the University. Also, I have always been interested in visual art and have had a knack for it since early childhood. I'm also quite interested in videogames, seeing them as the contemporary multimedia equivolent of great opera or film (when done well). I figured that if I wanted to get a Fine Arts degree AND get a job afterward that New Media was the way to go.
-I am trying to achieve the ability to be completely comfortable in the digital and analogue realms of visual art and audio. I enjoy coming up with concepts and carrying those concepts to completion. I especially enjoy bringing together visuals, motion, and sound to create a complete work of art. Although I am not particularly fond of 'art gallery' multimedia works.
-For a career I would like to work in the videogame industry primarily as a concept artist, character designer and art director. However, I would also like to work with texturing, sound design and music for videogames.
-In this course I hope to do well on the assignments without having to devote too much time to it. Basically I have a very busy semester and a heap of work not related to this course. I will definitely put effort into my work, but I just hope that it doesn't steal an inordinate amount of my one precious commodity.
Technical Skills
-I am well acquainted with Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D Studio Max, Premiere and Pro Tools, with a basic working knowledge of Flash.
-I have limited access to a digital still camera at home.
